Can not read disk in cd rom drive?

The cd rom drive will not read a cd. You can see the drive in "My Computer" but the cd looks blank when it is not.

How do you know if your CD-ROM is good?

1. Is it detected in the BIOS screen when your computer boots up?
2. Does Windows recognize it in the device manager?
3. Does the LED on the front blink when you put a disk in?

Have you tried cleaning the laser lens? The first step is to run a pick up a CD/DVD ROM cleaning disk to make sure there is no dust, hair, or other particles on the lens. For about ten bucks, you can pick up a CD/DVD cleaning disk that has fine hairs on the underside. This will remove dust from the lens.

Another option would be to make sure the IDE cable is firmly seated on the motherboard and on the device. Reseating these cables sometimes do the trick. Be careful doing this because it is possible to unseat something else. If you're not comfortable with opening your computer, your best bet is to take it to a professional.

Another option for you is to make sure you have the latest BIOS update for your CD-ROM drive. Find the drive manufacturer's website and do a search for your model. Make sure you have the correct BIOS file because if you don't, it will make the drive inoperable and you will need to get it repaired/replaced. Again, if this is something you're not comfortable doing, take it to a repair shop.

Before you go and try formatting and reinstalling your operating system, I'd try all of these other things first. Chances are, it's not your OS. Good luck.

Try this workaround to rectify the problem.....

Note: If you have any CD-writing software product/s [such as, Nero™.] installed on your computer, you need to uninstall the software before you remove the registry keys.

You can do this in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs >

Scroll down the list for the particular program/s and follow the prompts to uninstall the software.

Please Note: In CD is a program that's associated with CD-writing programs, and will need to be removed as well.Then:.....

1. Click Start, > Run.
2. In the Open: box, type regedit, > OK.
3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-
11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
4. On the File menu, click Export.
5. In the File name box, type savedkey, and then click Save.
6. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
7. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
8. Exit out of regedit, and then restart the computer.

Reinstall your CD-Writing software, and test the devices.

Disk at C: Not capable of booting itself.

The Startup floppy disk is essentially a bare bones DOS 7.x system disk with various disk initialization tools, such as FDISK.EXE, FORMAT.COM, and SYS.COM. These tools allow you to initialize the hard disk prior to the Win 98 installation.

Using the Alternative Boot Disk: This diskette allows you to boot into Win9x where the system disk at C: is not capable of booting itself. This is usually a result of the partition that is assigned to C: is not an "Active" DOS Primary partition.

How to Format the hard disk in msdos?

format disk /parameter

Example:
format c: /s will format disk C and make it a system drive.

If your Startup Disk does not have the Format.com, you can download it from:

After formatting, your non-removable disk (hard disk) at c: will have one program installed and that is COMMAND.COM

YouTube.com is an excellent website that allows you to view saved videos on their servers. Unfortunately YouTube doesn't allow you to download these videos.

Videodownloadx.com allows you to save videodownloadx videos and download videodownloadx videos easily using only your IE or firefox browser.

How do I save YouTube Videos?

1. Browse for the videos at YouTube

2. Copy the URL of the YouTube video you have selected.

3. Paste the URL at videodownloadx.com Download Form Box.

4. Click "DOWNLOAD" to save the YouTube file to your PC.

5. Rename the YouTube file with a .flv extension if necessary.

After I download YouTube Videos how do I watch them?

When you download YouTube videos through videodownloadx, they are saved in the new.FLV (flash video) format. You will need to download a FREE FLV player to watch these YouTube files on your PC.

1. Download a FREE FLV PLAYER.

When I enter full screen-mode, I cannot go back to normal mode!

This seems to be a problem that is related to mProjector, the tool used to create FLV Player with.

Other symptoms are (very) choppy video and/or stuttering audio.

If this new version of FLV Player is giving you troubles, you can try reverting to the previous version. You can also try the following fix:

1. Close FLV Player.
2. Find the executable file FLVPLAYER.EXE (C:Program FilesFLVPlayer)
3. Right click on it.
4. Select PROPERTIES.
5. On COMPATIBLITY, choose WINDOWS 2000.
6. Start FLV Player.

If this still does not work and you still experience choppy video and/or stuttering audio every time you double click the screen to view in full screen mode, I recommend that you convert the .flv extracted video into an .mpg video format which you can play on Windows Media Player.

Creating MS Access Forms that automatically computes

Temporary Fields can be created in MS Access Forms by simply assigning a title. This temporary fields can then be used to create other temporary fields that produces the needed data computations.

To better understand this, I will give you an example which I recently designed for an Insurance Firm.

1. Create a Table for AutoComputation with the following fields:

3. Copy and Paste the field name AmountInsured to the form.

4. Edit the copied field by changing its name to Premium.

5. Edit the copied field by changing the Control Source to : =[AmounInsured]*[AmountInsuredRate]. Change the Details Name to Premium. Now you have a temporary field named "Premium"

I can always tell when there is a new command that is in vogue. I start getting all kinds of email asking how to do it. Well, this is the new thing. I don't know why, but everyone wants to know how to create these little windows that pop up. All the Geocities pages have them. Other pages use them as control panels operating the main window.

If you decide to go with this kind of pop up window, use it sparingly. I think they become an annoyance after a while. Sort of like some guy telling you the same joke every time he meets you. It's fun about three times. Then you start yelling at the screen. I do at least. It really scares the cat.

But if you insist on doing one. Let's do it right! We'll start at the beginning.

The Basic JavaScript Format

Oh yes! This is done through JavaScript. But it's a very simple JavaScript, so don't get worried so soon. Here's the basic format.

Heck, you can almost guess what each of the parts does. Since this is a script, you need the opening SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript" statement, and of course the /SCRIPT statement at the end. The are used to hide the text from older browsers that don't read JavaScript. You see, if you didn't have those in there, the text would display. This way it doesn't.
...but it's the stuff in the middle that that makes the magic.

window.open ('page.html') does just what it says. It opens a window (a new browser screen actually) and fills it with the page within the parentheses and single quotes. In the example above the HTML document that fills the window is called page.html.

Is that it?

Technically yes. That little script will work and open a new browser window and you'll get the effect. But wouldn't it be great if we actually had the ability to configure the window any way we wanted? You bet. Here's how.

Note: These tips can be used when you are directly editing the HTML of a post or template. They won't work with the Link List widget of Layouts.

The HTML for a basic link looks like this: OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN

With this code, someone looking at your webpage will see the word or words you have as the TEXT. This text will be highlighted, and when clicked on, the browser window will go to the address specificed by the URL.

You can also create a link that people can use to email you. In the example above, just replace the http:// with mailto: and use your email address in place of the URL. It would looks something like this: Email me!

Sometimes, you may want to link to another webpage, but have it open in a new browser window, leaving the original webpage open beneath it. To do this, you can just add target="_blank" to the link. This tells the browser to make a new, blank window for the link.

The link would then look like this: OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN

If you decide you really want complete control over the new windows for your links, you can use JavaScript. Detailed instructions on how to do this can be found at HTML Goodies.

Use these tricks with care, however, since it's easy to go overboard creating too many windows.

PROBLEMS WITH YOUR HARD DISK?

My very first laptop is a Dell Latitude XPi. It was already a second hand unit when I purchased it in 1992, but still it cost me a lot.

One thing I really love with this computer of mine is that it had served me well. For many years, when all others fail, it kept my business running.

Even until today, it refuses to die of old age and because of the fruitful partnership that we had consistently shared day in and day out in the past, I too could not give up on this good old friend of mine. He is really one hell of a fighter!

More than a year ago, I brought it to a computer repair shop and it was diagnosed as having a hard disk failure. This long time friend of mine was confined there for a very long period of time because they could not find a good replacement part. It has already become an obsolete model and the only chance for its survival is to find a usable hard disk from another used laptop. Unfortunately, even used hard disks for this type of a model is also no longer being sold in the market.

It is time to give the guy a rest. I brought it back home, cleaned it well and after neatly packing it back to its case, it was ready to be kept for all time. I will never sell it nor will I give it away for it has earned its keep in my heart.

For many months now, I have been using a new laptop but still I never lost hope that one day, my old friend will again be up and running. Then a miracle happened . . .

WHAT IS A "PING"

Professional bloggers say that the basic step to market your blog post is to have your ping list in order. For beginners, what does the term "Ping" really mean?

Accoring to Wikepedia, Ping is a tool that sends an XML-RPC signal to one or more "ping servers," which can then generate a list of blogs that have new material. It further states that many blog authoring tools automatically ping one or more servers each time the blogger creates a new post (or updates an old one.)

Open ping servers, like VeriSign's Weblogs.com and Yahoo!'s blo.gs, let other web-services subscribe to a list of blogs that have recently pinged them. Blog search engines can provide fresh results very quickly by polling only the newly-updated blogs. Similarly, aggregators use results from ping servers to tell subscribers which items on their subscription lists have fresh material.

In addition to open ping servers, there are an increasing number of proprietary ping servers that gather information only for their own applications. Most of the major blog search engines operate such ping servers.

Wow! How can this message flood almost all the bloggers site at blogspot? Was this done manually or in automation?

I discovered this after searching for the name of the said provider, and I got shocked to see that a lot of sites at blogspot received the same comment.

Out of sheer curiosity, I sought the help of my favorite on-line translation provider since I can not understand the language used. It think the language is Brazilian Portuguese and it goes like this :

Nothing Really

Sorry Guys, today is the end of "WALA LANG!", the original title of this site.

This will now be known as the "BLOGGERS CORNER", where I will be posting the development of all my sites, especially my blogs. I need to focus my concepts in order to produce quality sites that can attract the interest of readers. As the saying goes, "Talent not shared is talent wasted".

In the coming days, the side contents and features of this blog will look differently. I will be linking this blog to all the sites I have joined or presently managing, including those that are not related to blogging. This way, you will see the sites I have bumped into that might interest you to join also.

I will not remove any of the past postings of "Wala Lang" because I consider them as treasures and moments of grace. It will serve as part of my experiences that I can look back in the future.

For every door that closes, a new one opens. Whenever night falls, a new dawn of light will begin. Blogging is not lifeless pursuit, on the contrary, blogging is a way of life. A venue where one can share his life to others.

DON'T EAT TOO MUCH RICE!!

Nothing really new. Just a reminder --

The human body was never meant to consume rice! You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years. However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognize our food or way of life. Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that he can eat without treatment with or by fire. He ate fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts and meat. Yes, even meat. You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat.

However, rice - like wheat and corn - cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. We were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, we not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of our food. In some parts of Asia , rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if we take rice, let's keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for our tongue... not our body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar - lots of it! This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different form sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This does not matter whether the rice is white, brown or herbal rice. Brown rice is richer in fibre, some B vitamins and minerals... but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, we need to consume lots of kangkong... 10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar. Rice can be digested only when it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and! spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour... almost as quickly as it would if we took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the "rainbow of anti-oxidants" . This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilisation of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fiber. The fibre of the kangkong fills us up long before our blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills up our stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, we end up eating lots of "calorie dense" food before we get filled up. Brown rice has more fibre but still contains the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless. Sugar is sweet. There is only so much that we can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can we eat before we feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal. While sugar may fill our dessert or sweeten our coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. We could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, we could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20 - 30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks fo tea or coffee without sugar!

There is no real "built in" mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice. How much kangkong can we eat? How much fried chicken? How much steamed fish? Think about that! In one seating, we cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but we can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes us to eat more salt. As rice is tasteless, we tend to consume more salt... another villain when it comes to high blood pressure control. We tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor the rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes us to drink less water. The more rice we eat, the less water we will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that serve as rice substitutes. .. like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar. Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest. Can't eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is "heavy stuff". If you have problems with digestion, try skipping rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.
Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals. Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict? Going riceless may not be easy, but we can still go riceless. Eating less rice could be a lot easier than we think. Here are some strategies that we can pursue in our quest to eat less rice:

1. Eat less rice - Cut your rice by half. Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises "eating rice like spice". Instead, increase your fruits & vegetables intake.

2. Take more lean meats and fish.

3. You can even take more eggs and nuts. Have "riceless" meals. Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

4. Go on "riceless" days - Go "western" once a week. Take no rice and breads for one day every week! That can't be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colors and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavors.

5. Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup. You will automatically eat less rice.6. Eat your fruit dessert before (Yes! No printing error) your meals . The fibre-rich fruits will "bulk up" in your stomach! . Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits.

OUR WATER AFTER EACH MEAL

RECEIVING A CHILD

I received a child about the same time when I received you. It became a life changing event for me and the reward I got was truly great and magnificent. For the first time in my life, I was able to travel abroad twice, and bought new cars. The business was on an uphill climb and I was even able to invest a business for my wife. During those time, I felt that financial resources just kept on pouring in as though it will never stop. Somehow, my short sightedness and sinful life had closed the faucet. I can only look back with some regrets that I was not able to make a long range plan that could have solved our dream today of owning a house.

Today, my life revolves to this child of mine. My "unica iha" so to speak who serves as my life's inspiration. I bring her to school everyday and as I watch her grow, it gives me that sense of fulfillment that every work I do is no longer centered on my own personal ambitions but in givng her the best possible life there is that I can offer as a father. I guess this is the same thing through with her mom, who is like a "stage mother" to her, always attending to all her needs

ERAP'S CONVICTION

Upon opening up my emails early this morning, Vincent Ty who is a batch-mate of mine in high school forwarded a write-up entitled “Do not be sorry for Erap”. This is the same material I received from my sister the other day and it looks like it is being passed around in the internet for all Filipinos to read.

In the said write-up regarding the conviction of former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada more popularly know as Erap, we were all reminded on how he plundered the people’s money. A whooping Four Billion Pesos of peoples’ money at the Social Security System or SSS and the Government Service and Insurance System or GSIS was invested to Belle Corporation upon his direct instructions. Not only did he earn a fat commission on the said transaction, the worse is that the investment was a flop!

As they say, “Crime does not pay”. The former president was found guilty and was sentenced to imprisonment, but the big question is can government still recover such huge investment taken from the lowly people?

Recent news talks of granting the former President an absolute presidential pardon. Whether this is rightful or not is a judgment that I leave to the Lord; what concerns me is the sincerity and dedication of government to protect the people’s welfare, being entrusted as stewards.

I guess what they need are some helpful tips from Rev. Fr. Manny Sarez of the Diocese of Cubao regarding Stewardship.

HAND SALUTE FOR MY DAD!

I lost my dad when I was twenty-two years of age. I was already a working student then and my dad acts as the consultant to our family business. I remember him vividly as a silent but funny guy who always loves to tease me whenever he sees me busy working on my table in the office. In the executive room, our tables are fronting each other and there are times when while I am busy writing, he would get a tissue, soak it on water and throw it at me. Then he will pretend to be likewise writing as though he was not the culprit.

He has four sons and I am the second to the youngest of six children. Most if not all of my brothers are afraid of him because he appears to be the silent disciplinary type of a father but I was rather fortunate to really know his inner self. I basically grew as a “Papa’s Boy” sleeping beside my dad in bed (my mom sleeps in bed beside her youngest son) even until I have passed the age of adolescence. Even when I have already started working while studying in college, I am still obligated to remove his shoes and socks, once he sits on the Father’s chair inside the bedroom. When news came to me that my dad passed away after being confined in the hospital for about more than a week, I really got devastated. I did not only loose a very loving father but lost a best friend as well.

Nissan Vanette - 1993

This is our other car, the one we use for family outings. It is a van and currently needs repairs.

Since we bought this as a second hand from my niece, it always gives us trouble. They say that Nissan was not able to perfect it's quality of perfomance.

It usually overheats and we can not depend on its reliability. It's been quite a while that it has again remained stocked at the garage and I intend to sell it in order to buy a good replacement.

Nissan Sentra - 1993

The mechanic is again working on this car of mine in our garage. I have tried a new mechanic who is my neighbor.

The other day, as I was about to bring my daughter to school, the clutch broke and we were fortunate that it happened just when I was just backing out from the garage.

For two weeks, it remained in the shop of my other mechanic because according to him, the alternator needs to be replaced. Carl was able to have it repaired and I have just been using the car for about a week, and now it's down again. God, its not cheap to have your car repaired every now and then! If only I could have the resources to again buy a new one.

But since this is a well loved car by the family, I plan to again place it on tip-top shape. My daughter will be inheriting it for her school use when the right time comes. We bought this brand new and I know its condition since then.

The mechanic just reported to me that he could not find a replacement for the broken clutch cable. I have to again source where to buy one similar to what happened to the alternator. I just hope I can resolve this the soonest possible time.

This is one of those days I like. I woke up early in the morning and saw that my business collection is more than 5thousand.

I began by having my regular prayer time and writing my reflections. Some of my writings are rather private, just between me and my God so I decided to create another journal for my private use. Some of my other writings, I posted them on my usual journals.

As usual, by a little past 7am, I accompanied my daughter in getting a ride to school. I went back to finish my writings as my wife leaves for the market.

My mechanic came and reported the status of my car under repair. Yesterday, I requested Carl to canvass for an alternator but instead found a shop where it was repaired for 1,300.00. Before he left, I gave him my card so that in case he finds one, he can withdraw from my account. At first he was informed by the store that they have a stock and after getting my go-signal to purchase, he went to the bank and withdrew 2,600.00. He then returned to the store only to find out that their stock is not a Nissan brand but a Toyota. They then offered to just repair my alternator which I agreed.

Anyway, going back to Mulo who is my mechanic, he reported to me that he already installed the alternator brought to him by Carl yesterday. He brought with him the door mechanism that needs to be repaired. He also informed me that he checked on the other electrical wirings and the lights that must be changed. He requested for an additional budget of P500.00 on top of the first P500.00 he received from me when I brought to him the car more than a week ago. He promised to finish the repairs before 5:00 o'clock this afternoon, just in time for a schedule meeting of mine at the church.

Erica handed over three accounts for issuance of policies. In the process of my work, my printer again ran out of ink. One receipt had blot marks but I have to make do of it because I am already short of forms. I am now left with just one policy and I need to place my requisition order from Art.

Incidentally, I already spoke with Art yesterday and informed him that I am running short of forms. He could not commit to give me the same insurer, so he will be looking for another principal. He told me that their office still has fifteen sets but this is way too low of my average requisition of fifty sets. Anyway, I do intend to take this otherwise, my business will suffer.

After releasing the policies to erica, I followed up from her the unpaid accounts of Honda. I told her that if they can not still pay them by this week, they should first surrender the original policies. This also reminded me that I have to update and review her collection logbook.

I then issued the long pending statement of Tita Thelma after reviewing her last year's record. I intend to give this to her when we meet at church tonight as I promised her during our last week's meeting.

Lunch came and my wife prepared me a delicious fish sinigang and beef tapa. I have really gained weight because my wife cooks delicious foods. No wonder, she is in the food catering business!

After taking lunch and before going back to my usual work, I decided to post on this diary of mine.

Wala Lang! I just feel like it!

LEARN THE I.T. TRICK AND TRADE!

Maybe because of the desire to earn additional bucks and the need to manage my regular business affairs more efficiently, I spend a whole lot of time exploring the internet.

These past weeks, I can say that I spent a hell lot of time in this undertaking primarily because it catches my interest as a person and as a businessman.

As a person, what first caught my interest and attention was the usage of blogs. I do love writing and this began when I first maintained a Bible Diary around five years ago. After learning the capabilities of blogs, I thought of also using them for my businesses.

As a businessman, I want to explore the power of the web. I also want the documents of my businesses available to me anytime and anywhere.

With these two main lines of interests, I have learned quite a new few tricks but I know, I still have to explore this vast world of information technology.

In doing so, I need to have a monitoring system where I can compile all my researches and discoveries.

Thus, "Learning the IT trick and trade" was born.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

A couple of days ago, I created another blog which I titled "EDSEL", a name I got from my father.

A friend from a community blog at Live Journal inquired where my name was taken since it is quite a unique name for a Filipino. I told her that as per my dad, I was named after A CAR built by Ford who happens to also be the name of one of his legendary sons.

This incident have aroused my curiosity to find out more about my name. It was at this point that I decided to do some research and create a blog that will contain all things that has the name EDSEL on it. I first posted a research material I got from google images but I really haven't started to dwelll more on the topic because of other work related priorities. I do intend to push through with this idea in the hope that a compiled research work can aide those who also have the same name and are curious to know more about its history.

Unfortunately, before I can even begin with the concept, my blog was blocked with the suspicion that it may be a spam. I responded on the query as requested and maybe in time, this blog of mine will be unblocked.

MANAGING MY FILES

It has been quite a while that I am studying how to maintain a back-up file on the internet in case my computer again becomes inoperative.

Available options I tried so far is to maintain a briefcase or an egroup but there seems to be a limit as to accepting large files such as my MS Access File or a Brochure with lots of pictures.

At the moment, I am converting my access file into spreadsheet before I can upload them to my egroup. For my brochures, I email them to my yahoo account that provides unlimitted storage.

Yesterday, I tried exploring on sites that offers storage. So far, I am yet to find one that will suit my needs. Of course, one of my first criteria in selecting a host is that it is for Free!

BIBLE REFLECTION AND PRAYER

As usual, I am already up this morning by around 5:30 am. I went through my emails and received two entries from Bro. Bo Sanchez, one for today and one for yesterday. I have finished my reflections and prayers on the first entry and was able to post them on my Bible Diary Blog. Before I can start on the second entry, the works of the day came in.

I just hope that before the day ends, I can also make a reflection and prayer on the entry for today.

ICE CAMPAIGN - "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY"

We all carry our mobile phones with names and numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence the "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) campaign. The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

A DATE OF A MARRIED MAN

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to takeanother woman out to dinner and a movie. She said I love you but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but thedemands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinnerand a movie."What's wrong, are you well," she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night callor a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news."I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you," I responded. "Just the two of us."She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She hadcurled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as anangel's."

I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed, "she said, as she got into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our meeting".

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips."It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said."Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation -nothing extraordinary, but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie.As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home. "Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heartattack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have time to do anything for her.

Some time later, I received an envelope with a copyof a restaurant receipt from the same place mother andI had dined.An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I LOVE YOU!" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than God and your family.

Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time.

"Pass this along to everyone with an aging parent, to achild, to an adult, to anyone with a parent.

Here's hoping today is better than yesterday.

I tried again this feature by creating another file titled "CGL - Investors Assurance". It runs rather slow and I find it time consuming to individually post data entries rather than using the Microsoft Excell. Also, I find its features not as easy and as extensive such as formatting cells.

My objective is to keep track of my financial updates and reports directly on the web so that in case my computer runs into trouble again, I will not loose valuable files and documents regarding accounting matters.

I have endorsed this as a project of PHILCONRES SOLUTIONS, a firm that I just recently launched on the web. I do plan to register this firm at the Department of Trade and Industry.

These past weeks, eversince I started to be active once more in exploring the web everyday, my body clock seem to change.

I usually wake up before the sun rises where I can take advantage of a very quiet atmosphere and a sound mind. Fresh thoughts and creative ideas easilly come into picture.

On top of it all, I guess what really moves me is the delight on the challenges I face today in this world of information technology.

I really do not know where the Lord will lead me in this new field of endeavor. I just pray that wherever I go, He will always be there by my side, guiding and directing me on the right path to take.

I didn't know that such requirements exist. I guess I have overlooked that one but I consider such development as a positive indication that I am learning the "tricks of the trade" so to speak. It gives me the inspiration to strive even more.

Wow! Viewing those sites of bloggers who won really envies me. I do not mean their layouts and how it was creatively done nor the substance of their postings, but the contents of their left and right sidebars. I guess I still have to learn a lot more in terms of productively using these spaces.

Exploring and discovering gives you a sense of fulfillment, most especially if what you are doing is really your line of interest.

In time, I would love to go back to this posting and remember where I have begun.

My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me Iwould do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was alwaysaround in my early years but less and less as time passed by. Today I read his obituary. Please join me for a moment of silence in remembrance. ForCommon Sense has served us all so well for so many generations.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was sincehis birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons asknowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don 't spendmore than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, notchildren are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned butoverbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boycharged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired forreprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the jobthey themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. Itdeclined even further when schools were required to get parental consentto administer Aspirin, sun lotion, or a sticky plaster to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted tohave an abortion.Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments becamecontraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when youcouldn't legally defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and theburglar can sue you for assault.Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in herlap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; hiswife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. Malu Fernandez - In Hot Seat!

I have been receiving tons of e-mails so to speak about this Manila Standard Today columnist who apparently wrote "irresponsible, elitist, bigoted, and discriminating" comments in her People Asia magazine article “From Boracay to Greece” .

One writer said that she made many belittling comments about Overseas Filipino Workers and Filipinos in general.

The response from Filipino bloggers have been overwhelming, and have not been light on the criticism. When do we say enough is enough and that we will no longer stand for the bigotry and discrimination that takes place, not only in this country but all around the world?

Another member of the ofw-investment e-group reacted by saying that "No amount of apology could repair the damage to the self-esteem of our OFWs. Malu Fernandez is theepitome of condescendence. How would she feel if somebody has done what she has done to the thousandsof our kababayans who sacrifice personal interest for their family and bring honor and economic recovery to our minamahal na bayan. This writer, if she is a writer at all, with a two-forked poisonous tongue, deserves the hottest place in hell! Let me share this adage from Dan Millman who is a writer and speaker:"If you want a kinder world, then behave with kindness; if you want a peaceful world, make peace within". A point of unsolicited advice:Ms. Malu, if you have turbulence within, stop contagion of this disease to our beloved OFWs! Our heroes deserve no further pain!

Upang makapagsimula ng Negosyo sa Celphone, kailangang lagyan ng laman ang iyong Load Wallet kung saan ibabawas ang halaga ng bawat transaction sa pagbenta ng prepaid products. Ang minimum na halaga sa load wallet ay P500. Hindi pa kailangang magbayad sa Retailer Account – gamitin muna ang pera para sa load wallet para simulan ang Negosyo sa Celphone.Magdeposito sa bangko ng Portal Innovations sa alin mang branch ng BPI sa buong bansa:Name of Bank : BANK OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS (BPI) Account Name : Portal Innovations Corp Savings Account : 4021-0108-77 Pagkatapos na maideposito ang halaga ay ipadala ang kopya ng deposit slip sa globalpinoys@ serbisyopilipino. org upang mabigyan ka ng ID at Personal-Identifica tion-Key (PIK) numbers. Manila City Hall is the institutional "seat of power" for the Capital City of the Philippines. They say that sitting as Mayor of Manila is a window to the Presidency of the entire nation.

To me, this brings a lot of fond memories. It is the city where I was born and raised. A city I will never forget for the rest of my life.

More than ten years have passed since I left Manila but I am still in tune with it's local politics. I have onced acted as a Deputy Campaign Manager of a Mayoralty Aspirant, and an Executive Assistant of a Congressman representing a District in Manila. This is also the place where I started a business before ending up in Makati City.

Solid Pine Wood

I received a text message from Fr. Greg, and it reads "Hi! Just a thought, what if we use solid pine wood for the interior panelling in the reconciliation room?"

I referred the matter up to the contractor, and his reply was "We are already installing narra ply, besides I don't know if we can find pine wood at the construction supply".

Forwarding the reply of the contrator to Fr. Greg, his comment was "Ok, just saw a solid pine wood at Wilcon. 8" and treated but price is also staggering - P840.00 per panel".

Solid pine wood is really rare and expensive nowadays!

I appreciate how AdSense helps me improve my blog to be productive. I went to review my records and it is starting to move.

I received a tip that I can add product referrals up to 15 which I want to place on the right side of my blog, but I am still unsuccessful in doing it. I was able to put one but it was way down at the buttom of my page.

I'll try more to research on this.

Wow! I think I really had a productive morning. I have approved the issuance of policies to 2 clients but it took me a lot of time to finalize the proposal and statement for Phinma Properties Holdings Corp.

This is the second time that a single Assured will be needing more than 100 policies! The first one I have underwritten a couples of years back was the SM Property Holdings, when they constructed a Mall at Paranaque City.

Should this push through, it will be a big boost for the company. I just hope and pray that it does!

I just received a confirmation from AdSense through e-mail advising me that my application has been approved. We'll see what comes out of this so that I can share it with friends.

Does your children duplicate things that you do? Mine does! I have a daughter who loves to do things that I do. She even imitates me sometimes. Just recently, she also created her blog on the same site as mine which she can share with her classmates and friends. I sneaked in to it and I love her title "Creativity". She sounded more mature than I am!

As usual, am up and about before the sun rises, looking forward to a productive day.

I also maintain a Live Journal where friends can comment on my postings but I still have to find out if this site offers the same.

National Heroes Day

Today is another public holiday here in the Philippines. Being a Monday, this is supposed to be the first working day of the week but like most of you out there, in this part of the country, we're stuck at home!

Being at home is the best way to avoid spending. Besides, it can be a fulfilling time of sharing valued moments with your love ones. You can play the PS, PC or On-line games with your kids and I bet, they can beat you up for a change. You can stay in bed watching TV or listen to music but be sure that no one else would want to do the same in your home. You might end up quarelling over the stations of your choice.

I guess I am not really decided on what I want to do. Maybe, I'll just have to take another cup of cofee. See you later dude!

It is better to give than to receive for in giving, you shall receive a lot more! Same thing through when one teaches or preaches, he learns more from sharing what he knows.

I do not believe in the so called exclusivity of knowledge and discoveries, charging a person for fees just so he can have access to their "sucess secrets and information database" on how to earn in their respective fields of endeavor, such as outsourcing, surveys, etc.

They entice you with very convincing marketing presentations, showing you facts and figures on how much you can earn (wow!), gives you examples of testimonials (are they really all true?) but the buttomline is you have to pay. Hurry! this discount is on limitted offer! (God, I hate this word).

You may say, "it's their way to earn bucks" but which would you prefer if you are robber, a lowly taxi driver or a big and profitable bank knowing that if you get caught, the punishment is the same.

What I am saying is that many around the world are seeking opportunities to earn because most of them are jobless. They will try all sorts of things in the web, even a "click-for-a-penny" just so they can find income to tie-up loose ends in their lives. So why give them another burden if you truly want to help them earn?

If you know of secrets on how to help this countless people who are in dire need of income, can you not share it to them for free? I guess, each of these people who says they already succeeded will not be hurt a bit if they do.
